Sandisk is not a good choice for
audio books. It has a bug whereby after a battery re-charge the device can
remain with the message "Charging" on its display after you have
removed it from the re-charging system until you perform a soft boot. After the
soft boot, the device exits from the "Charging" mode, but then loses
the last place that you had been listening to before beginning the re-charge
operation. You have to start listening at the start of the book again.

I get my audiobooks from libraries
for free. 3 weeks ago I bought 2 phillips gogear raga 4 mbs. One of the raga's
have been returned. The other will download audiobooks but puts the books
chapters that are out of order. I have served the internet to figure out what I
need do differently. Any suggestions? Also, I need to order another one for my
husband. Any recommendations?

Hi, I have found that if you look at
your (book) file on your computer and change the setting to either speech or
audiobook, that works for me.

Mescg Roupe is correct about the
loss of bookmarks after recharging. No one reads regular books without using a
bookmark. It's a simple function which Sandisk Sansas used to have, but which
the newer Sport models do not. Adam Gorden's positive review about an audiobook
reader with defective bookmarks is weak.

Since recently downloading Windows
10, my transfers of audiobooks from Overdrive (library free) do not reflect on
my IPOD Nano; however in File Explorer, it shows it has transferred. I am not
certain if it is the Windows 10 or ITunes updates that have changed my
transfers to my IPOD. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is too simple...get out your
old smart phone..rip the cds in iTunes and transfer the files to your
phone..even if it's not activated ..you can still listen to the books with the
music player and download a variety of players from the app store....using your
home internet....after trying for about 2 weeks to get books on an mp3 player
in the right format and order..a light bulb came on..either that just go buy a
little cheap Tracfone..and just don't activate it..29 dollars?

I own a 4gb creative zen and I love
it. I am currently looking to upgrade to 8gb (possibly 16gb) but I can't find
any vendors who sell these. Are they all discontinued?

Yes, the Creative Zen's are
discontinued, but you may be able to find new/used one on ebay. I have bought
several, and even have a backup. I love this mp3 player for my mother, who is
legally blind. I download audio books from the library using Overdrive. What's
great about it, is that audio books don't disappear or stop playing after the
lending period is over! I can add a bunch of books every couple of weeks, and
not have to worry about them.

I see several variants of the
Creative Zen - do they all allow bookmarking? Zen Mosaic, Zen Micro, Zen
Vision, etc.? I have a Zen Mozaic that I love but need to replace as it has too
little memory. I like having buttons that I can push w/out looking at the
player - so I can Pause/Unpause by feel while driving

If you are handy, it is possible to
replace the hard drive in your zen micro with a CF card. I just replaced a
broken hard drive with a Kingston 32 GB 266x compact flash card I got on amazon
for about $25. There are detailed instructions on line on how to disassemble
the micro and how to replace the drive. My drive broke ----- oh, one big issue:
you need windows XP to install firmware on the new CF card. You can't install
firmware using windows 7. I'm using virtual pc running XP from windows 7. I
hope I can preserve this old system, though Microsoft keeps trying to very hard
replace both old systems by 10.

You can buy pillows that have
speakers built into them (google "Speaker pillow"). You can also buy
flat speakers that slide beneath your pillow (google "pillow
speaker"). I've used both types and have found them to be comfortable and
easy to use.

I like to listen to books in bed. I
would like an MP3 player that has more tactile controls,, so I don't have to
look at a bright screen and fiddle with an interface. I at least want
bookmarking and the ability to rewind with tactile controls. Any suggestions?

One model that is not mentioned is
the Transcend MP710. It works great for podcasts ( . If you turn it off, it
picks up whee you left off .It also has bookmark function ( you have to pause
it before adding the bookmark - they don't explain that in the manual ). the
only drawback is that it has crappy headphones, so use another set.

The best mp3 player for audio books
is Canyon (several models with a AAA battery). Unfortunately no longer in
production.

I had a Sandisk Sansa - bad is that
it has only a three-speed playback and management is not possible without
looking.
I also have Transcend 330. It has a
9-speed playback and equalizer, but both at the same time can not be used. With
no viewing managing it is possible only partly.
